Personal Trainer of the Year. Again.

The CorporateLiveWire Global Awards have named me Personal Trainer of the Year for 2026/27. It is the twelfth industry award to land in five years, and I still have a 6am client on Tuesday.

The certificate arrived this week. Personal Trainer of the Year, CorporateLiveWire Global Awards 2026/27, signed and dated, my name on it and the studio’s name under it.

I opened it at the kitchen table with a coffee going cold next to me, and then I went and did a leg session with a client who had absolutely no idea and would not have cared if she had. Which is roughly the correct amount of ceremony.

Still. I’m not going to pretend it isn’t a good feeling. So here is the honest version of what it is, what it isn’t, and why I think it keeps happening.

What The Award Actually Is

The CorporateLiveWire Global Awards are judged, not voted. There’s no popularity contest and no online poll where whoever has the biggest following wins. A panel and a research team look at the business: what the coaching actually involves, what happens to the people who go through it, whether the results hold up, and whether the whole thing has been consistent rather than a good twelve months.

That last part is the bit I care about most. Anyone can have a strong year. Being asked to stand it up again the following year, and the year after that, is a completely different test.

The short version: it’s a national title, judged on client outcomes and track record, from an awards house that has been looking at this business for five years running.

Twelve Awards, Five Years

This is the twelfth. They’ve come from organisations including CorporateLiveWire, SME News and GHP, across national and regional categories, and they’re all sat on the shelf in the studio with the certificates on the wall behind them.

I’ve put every one of them on the trophy cabinet page, with the certificate scans, so you can check them rather than take my word for it. That page exists precisely because “award-winning” is a phrase anyone can type on a website. If someone tells you they’ve won things, they should be able to show you.

People ask whether it changes how I train anyone. It doesn’t. There isn’t a secret programme I hand out to award-panel clients. Everyone gets the same thing: a plan built round what their body and their week can actually take, food they’ll genuinely eat, and someone checking in on both.

Who It Really Belongs To

Awards like this get given to a name, but they’re not really earned by one. Judges look at outcomes, and outcomes are clients. Every one of these came out of somebody else’s hard work — people who turned up at half six in the morning in January, who kept a food diary honest when it would have been easier not to, who came back after a bad fortnight instead of quietly disappearing.

That is the whole job, really. I write the plan and I hold you to it. You do the difficult part.

So if you’ve trained with me at any point in the last five years, a fair chunk of this one is yours. I mean that literally — the panel was looking at your results.

What Happens Next

Nothing dramatic. The certificate goes on the wall with the others. The studio in North Leeds carries on exactly as it is: one coach, small numbers, nobody handed off to a junior.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started and you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is a reasonable one. Come and have a chat first — there’s no charge for that and no hard sell at the end of it. Half the people who book a consultation want to know whether they’d actually stick at it, and that’s a much better conversation to have in person than on a pricing page.
